Hold Fast

Hold Fast

5 years ago today, we lost our dear friend Aaron.  He lived a life no one else I know has.  He loved everyone he met and took such great delight just in knowing their stories (the racier, the better).  His father put it best when he said that Aaron was a “fisher of men”.   The sheer number of  “hold fast” tattoos you’ll find on his friends tells you much about how valuable he was to each one.

He was uber-creatively talented and so adventurous and there is not a more perfect way for him to have passed from his journey here on earth to the Everlasting Journey beyond.  The Big Valley took him on his last adventure and the news reports announced he was “Lost at Sea”.  A storybook ending that’s anything but the end.

There is so so much we could say about Aaron… so many stories we could tell and so many examples of his brilliance, it would fill 8 pages of this blog.   But we’ll let it lie in sweet peace in our memories until the next time we’re all together laughing about some crazy thing he did or until the next person asks us to share some stories about this guy they keep hearing about.  In the meantime, feel free to scroll through and click on some links below for some more information on Aaron and the events.

We are holding fast until we see you again Aaron.  That day won’t be long from now.  Can’t wait to hear you tell of your adventures with that warm, loud, cackling laugh.

We love you,

Fergie, Emilee, and Johanna

Great post! I found you guys through Ed’s blog. I was also from Louisville and Aaron and I worked together @ Gotee. He’s a true friend and brother and we shared many a trip up & down 65 between Nashville & Louisville. My wife and I were blessed by Aaron’s life in so many ways – we even named one of our sons after him and although he is only a little kid, my son’s laugh and adventurous spirit remind me of our old friend often. Years after he has moved on, Aaron’s life still seems to impact ours.
God bless you guys and thanks for sharing.
