Eating Comes Naturally
I’ve been watching Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution for the past few weeks, and his emphasis on freshly prepared food has really had me thinking about all the processed foods in my diet. Oliver says at one point “If the list of ingredients sounds like a science experiment, don’t eat it.” (If you haven’t seen the show yet, I highly recommend watching it, especially if you have school-aged children.) So I’ve been trying to find alternatives that are more natural but still convenient in a household like mine where both spouses are working 9+ hour days. Here are a few things that I’ve tried (and enjoyed very much).
For snacking. Yummy, and cuter than Goldfish crackers.
For a quick breakfast, or snack. These granola bars are so good!!
Perfect for when you don’t have time to make dinner. Best frozen pizza I’ve ever had.
Jamie Oliver has some of the recipes from the show here. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find those enchiladas he made for the school children last week. Those looked delicious.
So, has anyone else been enjoying the show? Or maybe you have some suggestions for a less processed existence. Please leave a comment, we love hearing from you!

I saw a clip of that show last night on the Daily Show. He was showing American children how chicken nuggets were made, throwing a picked over chicken carcass into a food processor bones and all. After it was meat mush he asked which of them would eat it. Everyone of them raised their hands. I gagged three times just typing that.
Yes, that part was horrifying!!!! Actually, the kids said that it was gross until he made the mush into chicken nugget shapes and fried it. And every single one of them ate it because it was in that old familiar shape! They did a similar visual in “Supersize Me” but they used a cartoon. I thought Oliver’s way was much more effective (at least on me, not the kids.)
I saw that on Supersize Me! I have always said chicken nuggets look like someone took an ice cream scoop to a chicken. I guess even that would be better!
