SciFi Films Speak to My Inner Geek
So, I will be doing a post about mine and Bea’s lovely vacation as soon as I can get the pictures off my camera, but in the meantime, let’s talk movies. Last night Mr. Starling and I had the pleasure of watching Moon, a fantastic, low-budget, sci-fi film starring Sam Rockwell. I really enjoyed this movie, and it got me thinking about my other favorite films from this often underrated genre. IMDB has a nice list of the Best Sci-Fi titles if you’re interested, and I think most of the films featured (that I’ve seen) are pretty solid (except for you, Blade Runner — BORING!) but one film that didn’t make the list that I liked is director Danny Boyle’s Sunshine.
How about you dear readers, any recommendations to help sate my appetite for sci-fi now that my beloved Lost is finished? Or maybe you hate this genre altogether? (Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even when they’re wrong.)

At last, someone else who likes Sci-Fi and thinks Blade Runner was a snoozefest!
I’ve always rather enjoyed Pitch Black, the original “Riddick” movie with Vin Diesel. It has very little in common with the sequels–thus, it’s entirely enjoyable. If you translated film noir’s murky, barely suppressed tension and shady, morally-compromised characters to sci-fi, you would get Pitch Black.
So there you go.
i have to be honest- i HATED Sunshine. Want to see Moon though.
